How to Use the Cooling Harness

  1. Prior to the first use, adjust the harness to a snug fit.
  2. Before placing the harness on your dog for a walk, cover the harness with temperate water.
  3. Wring out excess water so that the harness is damp but not dripping wet.
  4. Place the harness on your dog and enjoy your walk!
  5. Remove the harness from your dog and let it air dry.
  6. Hand- or machine-wash, as needed, with detergents with minimal dyes and scents to remove dirt or odors.
  7. Always air dry...never machine dry.

Important Safety Information

This cooling harness helps keep your dog comfortable in warm weather when it is still safe to be outside. Do NOT use it to take your dog out in temperatures warmer than what you would normally find comfortable for a walk.

The harness relies on evaporative cooling, which works best in low- to medium-humidity conditions during the daytime. We do not recommend using it in high-humidity environments or at night.

Watch your dog closely during outdoor activity in hot weather. If you notice signs of heat stress, such as excessive panting, drooling, or lethargy, bring them inside immediately and seek veterinary care.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does it work? Can it be used anywhere?

The harness uses a process called evaporative cooling when soaked with water. Because this process is most effective when there is less moisture in the air, we recommend using it in environments that are either dry or medium-humidity.

It looks kind of like the No Pull harness…is the sizing the same?

Yes – the sizing, shape, and adjustment/strap system for our Cooling Harness is identical to those for our No Pull harness. Dogs will wear the same size in our Cooling Harness as they do in our No Pull harness.

Can I use this as an everyday harness without using the cooling effects?

Absolutely! This is a very capable harness on its own without activating the cooling properties. It provides more than enough support for most dogs and is very comfortable. Perfect for daily walks!

What things are different between the Cooling Harness and No Pull Harness?

The materials used for the base of the harness are different as the requirements for the cooling process are different than what is needed to provide the extra neck and spine support needed for major pullers. The materials used for the No Pull harness are also necessary to properly support a safety handle and a D-ring on the chest, so those are not present on the cooling harness. The cooling harness is 10-20% lighter, depending on size.

Is this suitable for dogs with pulling, reactivity, or medical issues?

While this harness can easily handle the normal pulling every dog does sometimes when they walk, dogs with issues with pulling, reactive behavior, or physiological conditions (like  IVDD) should stick with the No Pull harness.
